For those of you that don't know us If you stumble across this please feel free to have a read, my son Jacob was diagnosed with autism 8 months ago & he is non verbal. Those that know Jacob knows he is a happy, caring, loving little boy that is completely misunderstood. When we first think of autism we automatically think autism is in the brain but autism can also effect mobility, March 2024 weeks before Jacobs birthday he unfortunately lost the ability to walk, he attended our local hospital for MRI’s, blood tests & he seen many many specialists. A week later they had figured out It was a sensory issue alongside his autism. By myself, as a 19 year old Mum at the time, I had to teach Jacob how to walk all over again. Thankfully he is back to his normal self & I have to have eyes at the back of my head again🙈Raising awareness & fighting for support shouldn’t be a fight, but unfortunately it is. Everyday there is families fighting for the right support for their children/loved ones. This cause is very close to me so I would like to complete this challenge in support for everyone with autism, as well as the families that unfortunately have a fight on their hands♥️Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.
