My goal 100000 steps

I'm walking for......

I am taking part in Walk for Autism this year from the 26th of March to the 2nd of April ✨ I will be walking 10,000 steps a day, and the 2nd of April is also National Autism Awareness day, the perfect day to end this on 💖

This challenge is ran by Autism Initiative Group, who are working towards a world where every autistic person (no matter there support needs) can get the support they need and deserve to thrive, as well as having every opportunity to fulfil their potential with a supportive, inclusive community. All donations go to them to help them toward this goal ☺️

As someone who was late-diagnosed at 27, I am still settling into my own neurodiversity (which I feel will be probably be a forever-long journey), and is a very small reason why I wanted to partake in this challenge. But most of all, I am doing this for the people I love most in this world who are autistic/neurodivergent, as well as other acquaintances I have that have autistic children/family members. I am fully aware that I am so privileged to be a person who has low support needs, is white and cis-presenting, and therefore can have experience that are not nearly as negatively impacted as they can be for others, such as people of colour, queer people and people with high support needs. For people like Ryan Gainer, who was senselessly murdered by police just LAST WEEK. His family rang the police for help as he was in a crisis, and police were so uneducated and ignorant that they killed him instead. With that, I am doing this challenge to show my support, love and solidarity with them.

Absolutely no pressure to donate, as I am fully aware of the many crisis’ that are happening in the world right now (hence why the donation goal is so low). Even if you share the fundraising page link or this post, or even just open up a conversation with your friends/family/loved ones about autism, about how perhaps someone you know could be better supported, then that’s appreciated just as much, if not more, than a physical donation! Thank you for taking time to read this or for clicking the link (in my bio), and an even bigger thank you if you are able to donate 🥰 lots of love x

Hey, well done. You are doing something amazing and you should be very proud of yourself. I have ADHD and autism. Late diagnosed at 39. I know how traumatic it can be to grow up undiagnosed in a world that doesn't understand. So thank you for doing this. Best of luck.
