My Walk for Autism Challenge

“English is my second language, autism is my first”
I grew up feeling different from everyone else. I was never the ‘smartest’ kid, I was never the most talkative kid, nor was I the popular kid. I don’t remember what age I realised I was different but what I do know is I was always known as the bossy, shy, scared, anxious little girl. I remember the anxiety I faced before school and social, family, events. I was always the girl that couldn’t concentrate, that couldn’t learn in big classrooms, that couldn’t ask for help when she needed it, I was always the girl that couldn’t put her hand up, that felt so much anger from not recognising my emotions. When I was 8 I started going to CAHMS (child and adolescent mental health services), when I was 17 I got my autism diagnosis, which also came back with a ADHD and anxiety diagnosis. And that’s when I realised it all made sense. I’m not different, I’m just unique. My Achievements
