Our autism story.

In 2016 Raphael was born. He was a sweet baby and he was progressing perfectly. When he started school he changed, he stopped moving forward and started showing signs of both autism and ADHD. thankfully he can speak (although not always clearly) he struggles with everyday things such as using cutlery, brushing his teeth, dressing etc and he does not understand things children his age should understand.
weston was born in 2021, he too was progressing, he learnt to say mama, dada, nana and Peppa. One morning he woke up and seemingly lost the ability to speak overnight. He became very withdrawn, does not make eye contact or even respond to his name. He was referred for assessment very quickly and has also had genetic testing (still waiting on results).
By the time Westons autism became obvious I had already given birth to Loki in 2022 and I became worried for him. Sure enough he was fine, progressing and learnt to say dada but before he even turned 1 he lost the ability to speak. He too is assumed to be autistic at the very least at only a year old.
Neither Weston nor Loki make eye contact, neither answer to their names. They cannot wave, point, clap, speak, dance, sing, understand simple instructions, interact or communicate in any way.
It's been an incredibly hard journey learning to adapt to each of them in ways they understand but they have opened up my eyes and made me see a whole new way of life.

Weston and Loki will accompany me on the walk but from the comfort of their wagon (I don't want Weston eloping) to support everyone we know and everyone we don't who has autism and sees the world as we do.

Neuro divergent awareness needs to be NOW!!!

I'm walking for......My sons Raphael, Weston and Loki
