My Walk for Autism Challenge

Total 610,500 steps

My goal 600000 steps

Updating my activity since joining.

I joined in early Feb, and I wasn't quite sure how to navigate setting up a steps goal. But now that I'm looking at my steps since signing up, I really want to make a challenge of it, and readjusted my goal to 600,000 steps! (80,000 a week up to April 2nd).

It really makes you think how much you walk in a day.

Since signing up to do this event, I've turned on my Google fitness on my phone to measure how much I walk on a day. It is quite astonishing how much or little you move, depending on what you have going on during the day.

I'm walking for myself

After being diagnosed with autism over 20 years ago, I found myself having many difficulties growing up, and struggled to learn about myself. There were times where I had slipped through the cracks of the infrastructure, and lost out on numerous opportunities.

Now, I have a job that I'm proud of, a home and a family, drive a car, travelled to new and exciting places, and accomplished many other things that I never thought I could do. That is why I am taking part in this year's Walk for Autism from March 26th to April 2nd. In doing so, I am becoming more accepting of who I am. I am finally showing and expressing my support for those on the spectrum and bringing awareness of the challenges that are present in everyday lives.

Help me to raise awareness, and raise funds for this charity.

Regards, Giancarlo
