The start of my journey
Hi my name is Kizzy and I have a 5 year old boy named Arlo, who is non verbal and suffers with autism. Arlo is the sweetest, kindest most loving child I have ever known, he gives the warmest hugs (when it doesn't come with a headbutt) and the wettest kisses (now he has learnt to puker his lips). This boy is my everything he has been through so much from such an early age. Arlo was 4 weeks premature and was so small I could hold him in a single hand (makes me well up just thinking about it). Arlo has helped me develop with my own issues as I suffer from depression and anxiety. But I have had to put all of that on hold as I need to be brave for him (even though at times I feel I can't I have to push for him). Sometimes I feel like a right failure as a parent and a person, but as my brand spanking new husband (who is an absolute star with us all) keeps saying that I'm not and boosting me up to the heavens, I feel like I can do something to help. And this seems like a good start if I can raise any money to help someone else who has been in my shoes suffering from day to day with everything that comes our way like having a sensory overload in the middle of the road with an oncoming traffic or flipping furniture because he needs more pink foods (if you know you know), I can be happy. All I want is for the best for him and to prove to everyone that his normal is normal and be able to hold me head up even higher with how proud I am of him. I love him and his ways and I want everyone else to see it.I'm walking for......
Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.
I'll be walking a total of 10,000 steps a day 26th March and 2nd April to raise money for this charity.
