My son Axel
When my baby boy come along Jan 9 2020, just before we went into lockdown. He was 8 weeks old. I knew nothing about what to expect from having a baby in such isolating times.. however we got through it and as we come out of lockdown. Starting to find our new normal. I was starting to realise that my son was different. Different to other babies he’s age, he was my “angel child” he was showing no signs of eye contact, not responding to he’s name. With many more things, sensory issues, the list goes on. It was the age of he’s 2 year check that it become very clear to us & health care professionals started taking me and what we was experiencing with Axel seriously. We got him into nursury quickly thinking maybe he might catch-up and it was the lockdown that may have affected him. I did tell the nursury my concerns but left it with them to tell me their thoughts on the situation.. thinking I was going crazy!, second guessing myself it was a horrible time going back and forth with my head. Turns out they was just as on board as I was with thinking more was going on with my Axel. (he's Nursury Munchkins have been amazing). Then everything started all the forms, different appointments doctors hearing tests, speech and language therapy. It was all a blur really and the wait for every single appointment felt like months and months. On the 20th of November 2023 after waiting 2 years to see the paediatrician. We got the diagnosis that I knew in my heart was going on with him, that is he has Autism. My heart broke but at the same time I was so relieved that I knew that I wasn’t going crazy and that I wouldn’t ever want to change him. It’s who he is and I love him regardless of the diagnosis. I want the best for my son, every parent wants there babies to thrive in life. My Axie is pure magic!, I want to raise money to help families just like ours. We got this 🩵💙I'm walking for......
