My Walk for Autism Challenge

Total 113,601 steps

My goal 80000 steps

Hello! It's lovely to meet you!

Hi! I'm Rosie. I’m a working mum to two wonderful, bonnie boys, wifey to a brilliant husband, and doggo mum to a spritely (and slightly bonkers) 8-year-old Frenchie who thinks she’s an actual baby. Baking is my superpower (although, let’s be honest, I don’t get to do it much—mumming takes up a lot of time, right?!), especially as our little family is just starting out on our neurodivergent journey.

Which brings me to the subject: Neurodiversity and Autism. My eldest son just turned 7, and he’s on the waiting list for his ASD assessment. We’ve had a somewhat rocky start to his school life, and after some mental ups and downs (and desperate attempts from both me and his dad to get people to see that his behaviours weren’t just “naughty”), we finally feel like we’re starting to get the support he needs. Not only for him but for us as his parents, so we can be the best equipped to help him build a successful future.

So that’s my little intro done! Now, the reason I’m posting: It’s World Autism Acceptance Day on April 2nd. This is a day for encouraging UN Member States to take action and raise awareness about autism across the globe.

I came across the Autism Initiative's walk for autism and thought it was a brilliant way to get involved, raise awareness, and support a cause that means so much—the Autism Initiative. This national charity takes a specialist approach that helps people of all ages lead full and active lives.

From March 26th to April 2nd, I’ll be walking, running, shimmying (you get the gist) at least 10,000 steps every day to raise money for the Autism Initiative.

I’ll be walking for:
- All the sensational, creative, and wonderfully intelligent SEN children who need support.
- All the very public meltdowns.
- All the dodgy looks from people who just don’t get it.
- All the brilliant, amazing and resilient SEN parents who do their best to keep their households regulated and running every day.

Thanks for reading! If you’re able to spare a little something, I’d be so grateful for your support of this wonderful charity.

I'm walking for my fabulous, creative and inspiring boy.

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking a total of 10,000 steps a day 26th March and 2nd April to raise money for this charity.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊
