I'm walking for …. My son Micah
My name is Tanika, and I am walking for my 5-year-old son Micah who has Autism.
This organisation is very close to my heart as Micah was diagnosed with Autism last year when he was 4 years old. Although he is doing amazingly, our everyday life is very difficult, and support is very limited so if there is anything I can do for other families facing the same difficulties, then I will do it.
I am passionate about encouraging those with the authority, resources and influence to ensure others, like Micah, have the same opportunities as everyone else and are made to feel seen and included. It is a never-ending battle.
I consider this a privilege to do this for him and for others who are on this journey.
Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.
I'll be walking a total of 10,000 steps a day 26th March and 2nd April to raise money for this charity.
