We’re doing it!

This year I will be taking part in the walk for autism to help raise funds for Autism Initiatives, an amazing charity that I am happy to support.

Autism Initiatives are a charity that help develop specialist services with, and specifically for, autistic people. They have a strong culture, and they learn to consider life from the perspective of the people that they work alongside.

Not only do they make sure they are listening to actual autistic people, but they are also constantly reflecting on how they can improve their approach, and are encouraged to be inquisitive, patient and show understanding and kindness, which I think is so important today.

The challenge is 10k steps a day for 8 days. 80k steps in total starting on the 26th March.

I really struggled with deciding on whether to fundraise in this particular way, because as most of you know I struggle both mentally and physically every single day. and while I know this challenge will help my mental state it’s very likely I will struggle on the physical aspect as every day is different.

It’s also why I WANT to do it, because there may be a day when I really, really can’t. I know how much pride I will get from doing this, I CAN do this.

I’m doing this for my little girl Everleigh who will also be joining me some days, along with Dale and Holly of course.  It’s so important that more support becomes available so that our children have a better chance at being able to live comfortably, the way that they want to. I do not want Ev to struggle the way I did, or the way many of us here did. They deserve so much better than that.

So stick your hands in your pockets my lovelies because we got this! Absolutely anything is appreciated, even a share to your stories etc or with family and friends. You’re support already means so much to us. Also I’ll be posting so many videos on this challenge, may even walk in… I don’t know maybe a unicorn or something.
