My Family and Autism

Firstly, if you're on this page then you're on here for a reason. That reason is because I've messaged everybody to say both Jen, myself and thousands of others are walking to raise awerness of Autism. So thank you if you've visited this page and even more thanks if you have donated to us. Both of our boys are Autistic. They are both the most funny, loving, respectful, inteligent people I know. Jen saw that things we're "different" for my boys early on, however I was like your typical Dad who didnt want to see it. After going to speak to the School SENCO and going to a Autism Seminar I realised how things were for them without actually understanding how things are for them. If you can imagine being in a room and it being too loud because it feels like there's 1000 voices shouting at you, or trying all day to conform to "normality" doing what everybody else does just to fit in when every part of you wants to scream out loud and run away, or physically not be able to eat something different becausr you never eat crisps from a blue packet because you only eat crisps from a pink packet, or the sensation of having your hair cut or your nails cut physically and mentally hurts you ... All of these things on a daily basis are just the tip of the iceberg for people with Autism and our boys go through this every day. When I was at school quite likely the naught kid shoved to the back of the class may have been Autistic or had specisl needs of some description and written off as a disruptive influence when all they need is support and understanding. For our boys and millions of others ariund the World who are Austic don't need critisism, lsughing at or being written off. Our boys know more about gaming, numeracy, languages and space than most adults we know. Our boys taught themselves Russian & Spanish and I cant even tell you what Maths they're doing thensrlves some of which is 5 or 6 years above their own age. Autism needs awareness. Autism needs understsnding. Autism needs funding to train people to give support so desperately needed. So we are walking a minimum of 10,000 steps per day for 8 days to raise as much money as possible. Please donate as much as you can afford. It honestly will change lives. Thank you.

I'm walking for......

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking a total of 10,000 steps a day 26th March and 2nd April to raise money for this charity.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊
