Update
Wow! Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Just a day in and already nearly hit my set target! I wanted to be able to reach target but was scared I wouldn't get enough donations. So now I'm putting on my big girl knickers and raising the bar. Any donations go to such a good cause and I'm determined to help as much as I can.Autism and me
I'm a 41 year old woman and I've spent my entire life trying to fit in. I never considered being autistic and knew no better. It took a career path in mental health services, supporting new mums and eventually autistic adults as well as personally supporting my daughter to get her diagnosis before eventually seeking my own diagnosis. The past year I've spent unpicking my identity, unmasking and still everyday learning more about my authentic self. Autistic women and girls are still being dismissed and misdiagnosed by an outdated and ill equipped society. The only way this can change is through advocating, educating and funding for more research and support for autistic people.I'm walking for......
Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.
I'll be walking a total of 10,000 steps a day 26th March and 2nd April to raise money for this charity.
Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊
